Dr Manfred Penzhorn completed his medical training at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.

He has more than 15 years’ experience working in psychiatry in South Africa, the UK and Australia, in the fields of Forensic Psychiatry, Rehabilitation Psychiatry, Acute Psychiatry and in the Psychiatric care of Older People. He completed his specialist training with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.

Dr Penzhorn’s interests are wide-ranging, including the treatment of depression and anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders and personality disorders. He has a special interest in the treatment of mental health problems that may arise in the course of ageing, and in the treatment of problems related to dementia.

Dr Penzhorn has worked as a Staff Specialist at the Gold Coast University Hospital and Robina Hospital. He has moved into full time private practice, now at Robina Private Hospital.

He is actively involved in the teaching of medical students and junior doctors, and holds honorary adjunct teaching positions as a Senior Lecturer at Griffith University and Assistant Professor at Bond University.

Dr Penzhorn is also an accredited supervisor for trainee specialists with the Royal Australian and New Zealand college of Psychiatrists.
