Day Therapy Programs

Our day, evening and follow up programs are available after hospital admission, and for those who have not had an inpatient stay at Robina Private Hospital before. You will have an assessment with one of our treating Psychiatrists before starting a program.

These programs are designed to work on the skills you need to recover and stay well.

CBT for Mood and Anxiety Disorders

This eight week program provides a structured application of proven Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) processes. If you want greater control over your depression, anxiety or bipolar disorder, you can learn cognitive restructuring activities to help manage your disorder and reduce the severity and duration of each episode.

Dual Diagnosis

Robina Private Hospital’s Dual Diagnosis Outpatient Program was launched in November 2021 to support patients with addiction and mental health concerns. The program is based on Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (CBT) principles as well as use of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills.

Project Art

If you enjoy creative expression and want to improve your confidence using a variety of art materials, this program may benefit you. It is also useful if you are unsure of your creative abilities, but interested in trying structured art projects to experience creative self-expression for personal development, and to experience emotional and psychological issues.

R.E.A.C.H. Support Group

This eight week program is for people living with depression or bipolar disorder. It is based on the principles of Responsibility, Education, Acceptance, Connection and Hope. The program, designed by the Black Dog Institute, aims to help you manage your illness and stay well.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

This program is for patients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and those who have intense, unstable moods, self-harm and unstable relationships. The program is skill-based to help patients tolerate intense feelings and learn to manage self-harming behaviours. Run by a multidisciplinary treatment team, the program and requires a strong commitment to therapy.

We offer this as a day and evening program.

Eating Disorders Program for Adolescents and Adults

Designed for adolescents and adults with a diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa; Bulimia Nervosa; Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED) or Unspecified Feeding or Eating Disorder and their families and carers. This is eight week program is appropriate when the patient does not require inpatient care, but needs more intensive support than offered by usual outpatient treatment.

The program may also be able to facilitate earlier discharge from inpatient care as a step down option.

Binge Eating Disorder Program for Adolescents and Adults

This 8 week day program is suitable for anyone over the age of 16, with a diagnosis of Binge Eating Disorder (BED), to assist in the development of skills and increase awareness of the maintaining factors for Binge Eating and associated behaviours and symptoms.

This program aims to;

  • To interrupt binge-eating
  • To establish healthy eating patterns
  • To identify and restructure faulty thoughts and negative feelings
  • To identify more effective coping strategies

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for Young Adults (YA-DBT)

This program is suitable for young people between the ages of 16-24 who are experiencing intense or painful emotions that are difficulty to control; impulsivity; challenges at school or workplace; struggles in relationship or just need to change self-defeating patterns of thinking or behaving.

Healthy Minds (Cognitive Stimulation Program)

This program is for people aged over 55 who are experiencing adjustment difficulties, depression, anxiety or early signs of memory loss and cognitive changes. Patients focus on age related issues including brain training exercises, creating a healthy balanced lifestyle through mental and physical activities, healthy eating and social activities.

This program runs continually and patients can join at any time.

Memory Clinic (Assessment Clinic)

For people experiencing memory loss or who feel their ability to think clearly and problem solve has worsened. A comprehensive assessment process with the patient and a family member, compromising two half-day appointments and further recommendations for treatment.

Memory Clinic (BPSD Clinic)

This clinic is a day hospital program for the assessment and management of people with a known memory disorder who are experiencing adverse Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD). We provide a comprehensive specialist assessment and management plan in consultation with family and carers.

Young @ Heart (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Older Persons)

This program includes a memory component and is designed to meet the needs of our mature aged patients who are experiencing adjustment difficulties, anxiety and/or depression. Sessions include reminiscing, validation, generating meaning, dignity, positive appraisal and the reframing of daily experience.

Psychological Injury

Designed for those with psychological injury impacting their emotions and behaviours and interfering with their life both socially and at work.

Building strength and resilience
