Dr Gordon Adam Hopkins completed his primary degree in medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin. He obtained an Honours degree in Medicine, along with licentiates of the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Ireland in 2010. He completed his internship in Ireland, and trained in psychiatry at the prestigious St John of God Hospital in Dublin, before emigrating to Australia in 2012.

Dr Hopkins is a General Adult and Forensic Psychiatrist. He holds a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychiatry from the University of New South Wales. As a Forensic Psychiatrist, he has extensive experience in preparing medico-legal reports and giving expert evidence in court.

Dr Hopkins has worked as a psychiatrist across a wide variety of settings, including secure hospitals, community outreach services, extended residential rehabilitation facilities, and general hospital and outpatient settings in Queensland and across Australia. Dr Hopkins has had the privilege of providing visiting medical services to Robina Private Hospital since 2022.

Dr Hopkins works with a deep sense of empathy and compassion, with a focus on an integrative approach to the recovery of his patients. He is committed to assisting his patients along a holistic journey of personal growth and wellness. He is a contemporary practitioner, with extensive experience in treating complex mental health conditions.

Dr Hopkins works with patients who struggle with a broad range of challenges, including mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, addictive disorders, personality disorders and with specific populations including LGBTQI+ and other health professionals.
