Stricter controls and changes to patient admissions at our hospital (effective 20 August 2021)

As a private hospital operator of choice, at Aurora Healthcare we have confidence in the stringent screening and control processes we continue to implement across our Australian hospital network, particularly amid the sustained COVID-19 environment.

In accordance with the latest government advisements, and in collaboration with public health, the decision has been made to introduce stricter controls for the admission of patients from across the Queensland border; to minimise the risk of COVID-19 entering our hospital.

As an additional precaution, and in the best interests of our patients, staff and the community the following applies for patient admissions to our hospital:

From Friday 20 August, 2021:

• Admission of all patients from Greater Sydney and broader regions of New South Wales to Aurora hospitals in Queensland will cease until further notice.
• Admission of onsite, day patients from New South Wales will cease until further notice. Wherever possible, Telehealth programs will be made available as an alternative.
• Admission of patients from within the border bubble will be subject to a rigorous screening process and accepted on a case by case basis dependent upon on the acuity of their condition.
• Northern New South Wales patients approved for admission will be required to provide evidence of a COVID negative test undertaken no later than three days prior to admission; and isolate in a dedicated COVID space allocated within the hospital for 14 days and undergo repeat testing.
• Patient isolation areas, within the hospital, will be staffed by our clinicians, with access to full protective personal equipment (PPE).
• All other routine screening of patients and staff will continue in accordance with public health advisements and Aurora Healthcare requirements.
• On completion of the 14-day isolation period and confirmation of a final COVID-negative status, patients are approved to leave isolation.
