Important Message from our CEO - Weather Event March 2025

CEO Update: 09 March 2025, 3:30pm

IMPORTANT UPDATE: BUSINESS AS USUAL (FROM MONDAY 10 MARCH 2025)

We hope everyone remains safe and vigilant throughout this severe weather event. Our hospital continues to monitor the situation closely, following local authority advice. Full business operations are planned to resume as usual on Monday in line with advice. 

PRIVATE PRACTICE AND DAY PROGRAM PATIENTS 

  • Private Practice: All doctor clinics are operating as normal on Monday. 
  • Day Programs: All day programs are scheduled to resume as normal on Monday. 
  • If you cannot attend your appointment, please call 07 5665 5100 to reschedule. 
  • If there are any changes, our staff will contact you. 

DAY SURGERY

  • All planned procedures will go ahead as normal tomorrow. We encourage you to only travel if it is safe to do so.
  • If you need to reschedule your surgery, please call 07 5665 5100.

STAFF 

  • Thank you to everyone who has offered to assist if needed. 
  • Essential workers are permitted to travel to and from work if it is safe to do so, however your safety comes first. 
  • If you are unable to attend your upcoming shift, notify your manager as early as possible to assist with contingency planning. 
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) support is available. Search ‘EAP’ on Lotti for more information. 

CURRENT INPATIENTS 

  • Inpatient care continues as usual. Speak with your nurse if you have concerns. 
  • Visitors should stay off the roads until authorities confirm it is safe to travel. 
  • Our staff will assist patients in contacting loved ones where possible. 

HOSPITAL IN THE HOME (HITH) 

  • HITH is planned to resume as normal from Monday. Our team will assess road conditions and, where necessary, convert visits to telehealth. 
  • Patients will be contacted directly to make arrangements. Thank you for your understanding. 

COMMUNITY SUPPORT 

  • Many people may be experiencing a cyclone for the first time. 
  • If this event has caused stress or anxiety, prioritise mental health and encourage those around you to do the same. 
  • If you have concerns, speak with your GP. 
  • Psychiatrists and specialised programs are available to help manage disaster-related anxiety and trauma.  We are here to help – reach out to find out how.

Patients to call 07 5665 5100 if they are needing to cancel their procedure, admission or day program attendance and rescheduling options will be provided. Cyclone Alfred Update: 7 March 2025, 10:30am


Our hospital remains open and accepting admissions as we monitor the severe weather. Our Disaster Management Committee remains stood up and is working with local authorities. 
📍 Next Update: We will continue to provide information as the situation evolves. If there are no changes, a further update will be provided on Sunday by 2.00pm with more information on Monday’s plans. We will be posting updates on our Facebook page.

⚫️ Inpatient care continues as usual. If you have concerns, speak with your nurse. 
UPCOMING PATIENTS 
⚫️ If you cannot attend your appointment or admission, call 07 5472 6472 to reschedule. 
⚫️ Private practice closed this weekend. 
⚫️ Monday updates regarding private practice and day therapy programs will be provided on Sunday today. Telehealth is available for private practice consultations. 

STAFF & VMOs 
⚫️ If you can’t attend your shift, notify your manager ASAP. 
⚫️ Urgent staff updates: Distributed via your personal email provided 
⚫️ EAP Support available via Loti r your manager. 
VISITORS

While Robina Private Hospital remains open, your safety and well-being are our top priorities, so we’ve made some slight changes as we monitor the severe weather. Our Disaster Management Committee remains stood up and is working with local authorities

Business as Usual with Safety First:

  • We are operating as usual for inpatient care, but with a strong emphasis on ensuring that our staff and patients prioritise their safety.
  • If you need assistance, please do not hesitate to call our admissions team on 1800 707 581.

Travel and Appointments:

  • Please ensure safe travel only.
  • Our Private Practice remains open, however in the interest of safety of our patients, the majority of consultations are being conducted via telehealth.

Day Surgery Unit:

  • Our Day Surgery is closed Thursday 6 March and Friday 7 March,  all patients have been contacted for rebooking.

Urgent Care Available:

  • If you are planning an admission or require urgent care, please call us now to discuss how we can assist you with forward planning.
  • Weather events can cause stress. Please take care of your mental wellbeing. Speak to your GP or seek help, reach out to our hospital if you need support.
