Memory Clinic

About Memory Clinic

Our new Memory Clinic offers a comprehensive assessment service designed to support individuals experiencing memory concerns. The process involves two key appointments and includes the involvement of a family member or carer to ensure a holistic understanding of the patient’s needs.

  • Initial Assessment: Conducted by a registered mental health nurse, this appointment includes a detailed evaluation and coordination of any necessary investigations.
  • Follow-Up Consultation: Patients then meet with one of our consultant psychiatrists, who reviews the results, provides a detailed report to the referring doctor, and offers tailored recommendations to enhance quality of life and explore further treatment options.

This collaborative approach ensures patients receive thorough, compassionate care with a focus on early intervention and ongoing support.

Clinic Process

  • Obtain a referral from a General Practitioner
  • Book an appointment with our memory clinic nurse
  • Attend a half-day session with a family member/carer with a memory clinic nurse
  • Attend investigation appointments, as arranged by the memory clinic nurse
  • Attend a final appointment with a psychiatrist, as arranged by the memory clinic nurse
  • A comprehensive report will be provided to the referring doctor

About the sessions

Individual Memory Clinic sessions are held on Tuesday and Friday. Patients will be allocated an appointment time when booking the assessment. A family member/carer must accompany the patient and be present for the duration of the appointment.

Psychiatrist appointment times vary, dependent on outpatient clinics, and can be discussed with the memory clinic nurse.

How much does it cost?

Participants are admitted as a day patient and as such, can claim attendance via their health fund, Workers Compensation or self-pay for $300. We ask that participants confirm any applicable out of pocket or gap costs directly with Robina Private Hospital.
