Dr Penny King

Medical Advisory Committee Member, Director of Medical Services, Director of Older Persons Mental Health, Psychogeriatrician

Dr Penny King is the Director of Medical Services and Director of Older Person’s Mental Health at Robina Private Hospital. Dr King has a long association with Aurora Health, commencing practice with them in 2007 at the Currumbin Clinic. She has been director of Older Person’s Mental Health since 2013 and has also been a member of the Medical Advisory Committee since that time.

Over the past 10 years Dr King has led the development of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, holistic Older Person’s Mental Health service that includes a memory clinic, inpatient care and day patient programmes. These programmes were recognised with a Clinical Excellence Award from the Australian Private Hospitals Association.

Dr King is a principal investigator for the national Australian Dementia Network (ADNeT) Clinical Quality Registry project and is a participant in the ADNeT national Memory Clinics Initiative. 

Dr King has more than 20 years of experience as a consultant psychiatrist and psychogeriatrician in both the public and private health sectors and has experience as an NHS International Fellow in the United Kingdom. Dr King’s main practice area is in the diagnosis and management of neurocognitive disorders.

Dr King coordinates and convenes a local collaborative interest and education group for medical specialists and other health care professionals who care for older people. She holds a senior lecturer title with Griffith University Medical School.
