Professional background

Dr Bradley Ng is a consultant psychiatrist with interests in adult and old age psychiatry.

He trained as a Fellow of the Royal and Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in both New Zealand and Australia and has worked in both the private and public sectors. He is a member of the Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age, the Faculty of Psychotherapy and Faculty of Forensic Psychiatry.

Dr Ng has an interest in a variety of conditions, including cognitive disorders, dementia, depression, anxiety and chronic pain. He is an advocate of a multiple treatment approaches. He endorses judicious evidence based use of medications and is a strong supporter of short term or structured psychotherapies, such as cognitive behaviour
therapy and acceptance commitment therapy.

Dr Ng has a long standing interest in neurostimulation treatments in psychiatry, in particular Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation which is available at Robina Private Hospital. This is a new and novel treatment for resistant, chronic depression which is safe, effective and may be a viable alternative to electro-convulsive therapy for some patients.

Dr Bradley Ng has a practice in medico-legal psychiatry, and has a long standing interest in issues of capacity, including testamentary capacity (wills) and Enduring Power of Attorney (EPOA). He is a peer reviewer for several academic journals and has published locally and internationally. He has also presented papers at several conferences and forums, ranging from psychopharmacology to dementia.
