Utopia is a Registered Nurse with thirty-five years’ experience in mental health nursing in a wide variety of clinical settings including early psychosis, eating disorders, child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, older persons mental health, addiction services, psychiatric rehabilitation services, forensic psychiatry, and working as a co-responder with the police and ambulance services.
She initially completed a three-year hospital based psychiatric nursing course at Wolston Park Hospital in Queensland then subsequently completed a Bachelor of Nursing degree in 1995, a Diploma in Eating Disorders in the United Kingdom in 2002, a Graduate Certificate in Applied Management (Health) in 2006, and a Master’s in Applied Management (Nursing) in 2010. Utopia has completed training in CBT, CBT Enhanced, DBT and ACT therapies and is currently completing a PACFA accredited Buddhism and Psychotherapy Professional Training Course.
Utopia has worked as a mental health nurse in New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, the United Kingdom, and Bermuda. She has approximately 20 years’ experience in nursing management including 5 years’ experience in senior management positions.
Utopia is also a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse with the ACMHN and a current member of the ACMHN Qld State Committee.
She is very passionate about nursing practice standards, professional development for nurses, and most importantly, the wellbeing of nurses as happy staff leads to a high standard of patient care.
