Hospital in the home

Optimising recovery through excellence in community mental health care.

Robina Private Hospital is a recognised as a leader in the provision of private mental health care in the South East Queensland region. The Hospital’s mental health services provide specialised treatment for a broad range of mental health illnesses and is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of dedicated mental health professionals who are committed and passionate in providing quality mental health care.

The Hospital provides a contemporary continuum of care service that incorporates Inpatient, Outpatient, Day Patient and a recently introduced ‘Hospital in the Home’ (HITH) service.

HITH is an alternative to an inpatient stay. Patients are still regarded as hospital inpatients, and remain under the care of their treating Doctor. Care may be provided by nurses, doctors, or allied health professionals, and additional home supports arranged as required.

HITH focuses on optimising recovery through excellence in community mental health care. The main services provided include:

  • case management by a multidisciplinary team that acknowledges the episodic nature of mental illness;
  • recovery oriented assessment and clinical treatment interventions that; minimise the impact of mental illness on patients, their family/significant others and carers;
  • focusing on goals of recovery and reducing relapse and inpatient admissions; and
  • assistance with access to a broad range of clinical and non-clinical services to enable patients to establish, re-establish or reclaim a meaningful life.
